Ok, so a LOT of parents are suddenly home with their kiddos...
Remember that this is a PERFECT time to make memories with your children and learn things beyond the "normal" curriculum. This is a great time to really help your child dig in and spend hours doing or learning something that they love. Don't forget that there are TONS of documentaries on the streaming services that they might enjoy. Remember that you do not have to replace their lost schooling. You do not have to worry about your child's education. Life is learning, and your teachers will help your kiddos make up for lost time when our lives return to normal.
Until then, you are just helping to "avoid the slide." Right now you are creating a comforting schedule for your kids to follow during these uncertain times. Since a structure is very important for most humans to feel safe, I have included a very easy schedule that can be reproduced/revised for almost ANY learner. Be sure to create a schedule that requires little to no "work" on your part, as your hands are already full.
When your children finish "school" for the day and you finish work, consider having dinner together before closing out the evening with your family's version of "Family Fun" (board games, cards, art, reading, watching a movie, some outside time if available, or a walk through the neighborhood if allowed). Whatever you do, take some time to enjoy each other and to check in with one another.
As always, stay safe and stay smart!
